Even if you can't go out to serve in a country far away, you can still be missions minded! Here are a 10 ways you can be more involved in global outreach.

  1

Learn about the 10/40 window. This area contains more than half the world's population and includes 80 percent of the world's poorest people. Hinduism, Islam, and Buddhism dominate as popular religions. No other area on earth has so few Christians or established churches.

2

Pray daily that God will send workers out into the field. Pray that some, even from HCC, would go to preach the gospel to unreached people.

3

Invite missionaries who are home on furlough to join you for dinner. Talk to them about what life is like where they are serving.

4

Read international news in the newspaper or on a website. Pay attention to the conflicts and hardships of each country. This can lead to more effective prayer.

5

Write or email a missionary you know to update them on things happening in the church and in the area.

6

Email a missionary and ask what books he or she would like to have. Or ask if there is a certain type of candy or food that would give them a "taste of home". And then mail out a small care package.

7

Go on a missions trip with the church.

8

Get a photo of a missionary and put it on your refrigerator.  Change it every so often. Make praying for a missionary a regular part of your meal-time prayers.

9

Call the Missions Ministry and ask to receive prayer requests and updates from missionaries supported by HCC.

 Read a missionary biography.
